The Gunners may very well be active in the midfielder market this January. One player who has been strongly linked to Arteta-led Arsenal is Ruben Neves.
Arsenal desperately need a midfield player because Kai Havertz isn’t working as a midfielder and Thomas Partey is always injured. Luckily the winter transfer window is just around the corner though.
Arteta is a huge fan of Neves
According to Fabrizio Romano, the links to Ruben Neves are likely due to the fact that Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of the Portuguese midfielder. Speaking on The Debrief, Romano shared that Arteta is a huge fan of Neves, claiming that he’s been asking Edu about signing the £47 million man for years at this point.
Romano said: “I think we have these links because of Mikel Arteta. From what I’m told, Mikel Arteta has always been a fan of Ruben Neves. He’s always appreciated the player since he was at Wolves. He was always one of the midfielders that he has indicated to the directors and to Edu in meetings over the past two or three years. Discussing midfielders, the name of Ruben Neves has always been around, but at the moment there are no negotiations.”
Arsenal have given Arteta whatever he wants
Arsenal have been behind Mikel Arteta pretty much ever since he was appointed the Gunners’ manager. He knows what’s best for his squad and he has proven that time and time again. If Arteta thinks that Ruben Neves could get them over the line, then he’s the man Arsenal have to sign in January.
Of course, getting these sorts of deals over the line is easier said than done. However when there’s a will, there’s a way, especially when a big team such as Arsenal are involved.
