Arsenal’s star players haven’t quite hit the heights they hit last term, but the team have been getting results. Arsenal may have lost at the weekend, but we must not forget just how well the Gunners have started this season. The north London club may not be the same force they were last season, but they have only lost one league game and they’re very much in the title race as things stand. So, who has been Arsenal’s best player this season?
Based on the last couple of years, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard are the safest answer to that question. But speaking on Five, Rio Ferdinand named another player as Arsenal’s best player this term.
Declan Rice is Arsenal’s best player
Ferdinand has gone on the record to say that Declan Rice has been Arsenal’s best player this season so far, ahead of the likes of Saka and Odegaard.
“Declan Rice, he’s been your best player this year, he’s been your best player,” Ferdinand said.
Rice has stepped up
Whether or not you think Rice has been Arsenal’s best player this season is up for debate, but there is no denying that he has stepped up big time since joining the Gunners. He has taken to life at a top Premier League club like a duck to water.
Arsenal took the risk on signing him. Rice was not proven at the top level before making this move. He had never played a single minute of Champions League football before making his £105 million move to the Emirates. But Arsenal’s decision to bring the midfielder has certainly been justified.
The midfielder has been a brilliant signing so far, and fans will certainly hope that this good form continues for a long long time.
