In their last two games, the Blues have scored 4 goals each against sides that were on top of the table at that time. Speaking on FIVE, Danny Murphy has revealed whether he thinks Chelsea will be able to continue their good run of form or not.
Chelsea could be bolstered by the return of Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia. Both players were signed in the summer but haven’t made an official debut yet due to their respective injuries.
Danny Murphy’s prediction
Chelsea’s record at St James’ Park has not been great in recent seasons. Nevertheless, Murphy is still backing the Blues to come out on top amid Newcastle’s injury crisis.
The former Liverpool player said on FIVE: “I think Chelsea will win at Newcastle because of Newcastle’s injuries.”
Chelsea have struggled at the St. James’ Park
If you ask any Chelsea fan which away ground do you hate playing at the most, many would probably say St. James’ Park. It hasn’t been a good place for Chelsea even during times when the Blues were soaring and the Magpies were mediocre. Chelsea lost 1-0 in their most recent encounter at that stadium last season.
It is fair to say that it wouldn’t be an easy game for Chelsea even with Newcastle’s injury problems.
It would be great for Chelsea if Danny Murphy’s prediction comes true. All 3 points would help keep Chelsea’s Champions League hopes alive. However, a draw sounds like a more likely outcome for Saturday’s game. But with Mauricio Pochettino at the helm, there’s a bit more reason for Chelsea fans to be confident.
