Ivan Toney now backed to join Arsenal

Ivan Toney will probably leave Brentford within the next 12 months. The 27-year-old striker has outgrown his current club. He’s been very open about his desire to make the leap to the next level. Toney has been linked to a number of clubs since the summer, but Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked the strongest.

However, it is now being reported that Arsenal are the sole front-runners in the to sign the £60 million man.

Ivan Toney ‘will be an Arsenal player’

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Scott Minto was discussing Toney’s future. He predicted that the English striker will ultimately end up at the Emirates Stadium but not in the January transfer window, rather, in the summer.

He said: “Brentford fans know that it’s not a case of if he goes, it’s when he goes. I think he owes the club to stay until the end of the season, but then he’s gone. As much as I’d love to see him at Chelsea, I think he will be an Arsenal player next season.”

Its still a long time and anything can happen

There’s plenty of time between now and the summer transfer window, and a lot can happen between now and then.

Gabriel Jesus or Eddie Nketiah could find form, resulting in Arsenal pulling back from the race for Toney. Maybe Chelsea could become more desperate for a striker. An altogether new club could also swoop in and sign Toney.

It’s almost impossible to predict summer transfers ahead of the summer because there are so many variables at play, and with a player like Toney who is currently banned from playing anyway, it’s a fool’s errand to guess where he will end up.
