During the summer, Kepa, who plays as a goalkeeper, got a chance to live his dream by playing for Real Madrid. A while back, he could have joined them for a good deal, but Zinedine Zidane, the coach, didn’t think he was better than another player, Keylor Navas. This made Kepa’s price go up, and Chelsea later paid a lot more, €80m, to bring him to London. Things didn’t go as planned, and Kepa ended up replacing Thibaut Courtois at Chelsea due to an injury. Now, Kepa, who is on loan to Real Madrid, has a small problem. He is injured in the right abductor and will be out for three weeks. Luckily for him and the club, much of that time will be during the international break.
What happens with Kepa next summer is still uncertain.
Why Did Real Madrid Buy Kepa?
Kepa Arrizabalaga was brought on loan to Real Madrid in place of Thibaut Courtois who will miss this season of football due to injury. Courtois is a very special goalkeeper as he has single-handedly won Real Madrid many matches. But he suffered an ACL injury at the start of the season which ruled him out. for the rest of the season. This meant that Real Madrid needed a new Goalkeeper.
That is when they thought of bringing in Kepa from Chelsea on loan. Although he is not a like-to-like replacement for Courtois, he can do the needed for the club. But all of a sudden he suffered an injury and can be out for 3 weeks. This is a major problem for Real Madrid as he was bought in as the first-choice goalkeeper.
So without Kepa for the next 3 weeks, Real Madrid has to manage with Lunin between the sticks. Kepa has stepped up and managed to keep 6 clean sheets so far in the loan spell at Madrid. He was going well but this injury has put an end to that spell. We will have to wait and see if he will be able to make a better comeback after the injury.
